This book aims to demystify meditation and show its value in one's mind development, thinking, behaviour, and understanding of oneself and the world. It is divided into two parts—the first part searches for the reasons for human suffering and, consequently, world imperfection. It explores concepts such as mindfulness and equanimity, as well as some other theoretical basics of meditation. With some fundamental yet essential explanations about the brain and mind, novelties about stress and insights into why some people tackle stress and adverse events better than others, it lays the groundwork necessary to understand why bringing meditation into your daily routine could be a good idea. This is all in preparation for a smoother entry into the book's second part, devoted to the practice. The practical implementation of gained knowledge is what will reward you. It will help you get to know and understand yourself and the world around you better. Last but not least, it will show how to tackle old resentment and traumas to become more balanced, calm, prudent, and overall happier.
Are you sceptical? If you are, it is rightly so. Don't just take my word for it; test and experience it yourself.
About the author

Alex Mars (1968) is a passionate reader of science and a humble student of meditation who doesn't accept that we, homo sapiens (Latin: "wise man"), the species to which all modern human beings belong, invest more of our brainpower and human resources in inhumane destruction than the construction of society and, therefore, believes that the next big task for humans is to become humane. Without that, the concept of happiness is nothing but an illusion.
